Training Centres
In 1993 the Water Services Training Group was established to examine the training needs of staff working in the Water Services area and to make recommendations on how to address these needs.
Their recommendations included the establishment of a Training Centre
Network around the Country. In 1996, the Minister for the Environment
and Local Government approved the plan for setting up five Training
Centres in Ballincollig,
Roscrea,
Castlebar,
Stranorlar
and Dublin.
A comprehensive programme of courses has been developed for a broad range of disciplines.
The Group currently consists of a cross section of representatives from the Department of the Environment and Local Government, Local Authorities, FAS, and the National Federation of Group Water Schemes.
Aims
- Provision of Training to a broad range of Staff within Local Authorities and the Private Sector;- Provision of training to personnel working with Group Water Schemes;
- To act as a centre of learning for those working in the Local Authority and the Private Sectors;
- To develop and deliver courses that meet the changing needs in the current environment.
